A shocking incident of daylight violence unfolded in Ajmer district on Wednesday, leaving a local trader injured from a gunshot wound. The episode, stemming from a business dispute, caused panic in a busy market area.
Broad Daylight Shooting in Kekri Market
The incident took place at the bustling Ajmeri Gate market in Kekri town. According to police, the victim, Mahendra Sahu, who runs a shop in the market, was allegedly shot by another trader, Ajay Sahu. The two were involved in a monetary dispute which escalated dramatically on Wednesday afternoon.
Dispute Escalates to Gunfire
Police reports indicate that Ajay Sahu went to Mahendra Sahu's shop, leading to a heated argument. During the confrontation, Ajay Sahu allegedly took out a firearm and opened fire, hitting Mahendra Sahu in the abdomen. The sound of the gunshot sent shoppers and shopkeepers into a state of panic in the crowded market.
Bystanders and other shopkeepers quickly rushed to the aid of the injured man. They arranged to shift him to the government hospital for urgent medical attention. Hospital authorities have stated that Mahendra Sahu's condition is now stable following treatment for the bullet injury.
Swift Police Action and Investigation
Police teams reached the scene promptly after being alerted. They detained four persons in connection with the shooting. The main accused, Ajay Sahu, was taken into custody along with three other individuals who were accompanying him at the time. The police also seized the vehicle used by the accused.
A team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) examined the crime scene and recovered a bullet casing as crucial evidence. Investigators are also scrutinizing CCTV footage from cameras installed in the vicinity to piece together the exact sequence of events.
Additional SP Rajesh Kumar confirmed that preliminary findings point to a business dispute as the motive behind the shooting. A comprehensive investigation is currently underway to uncover all aspects of the case.
