Three Men Arrested in Trichy for Attempted Murder Case

Trichy police made three arrests on Tuesday in connection with an attempted murder. The incident involved a 25-year-old man who suffered serious injuries. One of the arrested individuals is a notorious history-sheeter. He sustained a leg fracture while trying to escape from the authorities.

Violent Altercation Erupts Over Smoking Dispute

The attempted murder occurred late on Monday night. It happened near Natharsha Pallivasal on Madurai Road around 11:30 PM. According to police reports, A Kadar Hussain, aged 29, and his younger brother A Abuthagir, aged 25, were sitting near their home. H Riyas Basha, a 29-year-old friend of Kadar Hussain, met them there.

During their conversation, Riyas Basha questioned Abuthagir about smoking cigarettes in his presence. This simple query quickly spiraled into a heated argument. The brothers responded by using abusive language against Riyas Basha. They also physically shoved him during the confrontation.

Brothers Call for Backup and Launch Attack

Feeling enraged by the abuse, Riyas Basha immediately made phone calls. He contacted his brother H Ahamed Basha, who is 25 years old. He also called his associate M Mohamed Mubarak, aged 34. Mubarak is locally known as 'Thakkali' Mubarak. Riyas Basha urgently requested both men to come to the location.

They arrived at the scene without delay. The trio then surrounded Abuthagir. They began verbally abusing him before launching a physical assault. They used a knife during the attack, causing severe injuries to Abuthagir. He sustained serious wounds on his right rib, his right hand, and his back. The attackers fled the area immediately after the assault.

Victim Hospitalized and Police Launch Manhunt

Abuthagir received emergency medical attention. He was rushed to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital, commonly called MGMGH. He is currently undergoing treatment there for his injuries. The police initiated a comprehensive manhunt for the suspects. City Police Commissioner N Kamini provided direct oversight for the operation.

Officers successfully arrested Riyas Basha and Ahamed Basha on Tuesday. However, Mohamed Mubarak attempted to evade capture. He tried to escape near the Sarkarpalayam area. Mubarak has a notorious reputation as a history-sheeter. Several pending criminal cases are already registered against him.

History-Sheeter Injured During Police Chase

During the police chase, Mohamed Mubarak fell while trying to flee. He sustained a fracture on his right leg from the fall. Police officials confirmed this injury occurred during the pursuit. Mubarak was subsequently arrested by the authorities. He received medical treatment and was admitted to MGMGH for his leg fracture.

Meanwhile, Riyas Basha and Ahamed Basha were presented before a magistrate. The court ordered them into judicial custody following their production. The Fort Police registered a formal case based on a complaint filed by Kadar Hussain. They invoked sections 296(b) and 109(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. These sections pertain to abuse and attempted murder charges.

The police investigation continues as they gather more details about the case. Authorities are examining all aspects of the violent incident that began with a smoking-related argument.
