Police in Trichy district arrested two young men on Tuesday evening after a shocking incident during a routine vehicle check. The altercation turned violent when one of the suspects bit a woman traffic constable, causing her serious injury.

The incident occurred in the Palakkarai area of Thuraiyur around evening hours. Constable S Ambika, aged 39, was on duty regulating traffic when she noticed something concerning. Two youths riding a two-wheeler appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.
Constable Takes Action, Faces Attack
As Ambika observed the duo, they attempted to make a turn but lost control of their vehicle. They fell off the two-wheeler right there on the road. The constable immediately approached them to investigate further.
Recognizing the potential danger, Constable Ambika took possession of the vehicle's ignition key. This action apparently provoked one of the youths. P Jagadeesan, aged 18, allegedly grabbed the policewoman's hand and bit it forcefully.
