Truck driver beaten to death by group in Koderma

A 26-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by a group of men inside his home in Koderma district late on Friday. The incident occurred around 9:30 pm in the Markaccho area. Anish Singh, a truck driver, succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.

Sequence of Events

Anish had returned from Patna to his village on Friday evening. According to his uncle Sikandar Singh, Anish got into a verbal argument with some individuals dining at a hotel on Jamu Road under Markachho police station limits while returning from Jamu. Although he left the spot and went straight home to avoid further conflict, the group allegedly followed him.

Soon after, a group of around 10 people arrived at his home on motorcycles. They barged into his home and assaulted him. As neighbors rushed in after hearing Anish’s screams, the assailants fled. He was taken to Markaccho community health centre and then referred to Koderma Sadar Hospital, where he died on Saturday.

Legal Action

An FIR against six people was registered on the complaint of his mother, Anita Devi. Koderma Superintendent of Police Kumar Shivashish stated, “Raids are underway. No one involved in the crime will be spared.”

Anish Singh worked as a truck driver and had recently returned from Patna. The motive behind the attack appears to be the earlier verbal altercation. Police are investigating the case and have formed teams to apprehend the accused.
