A devastating road accident claimed the life of a truck driver in Jharkhand's Khunti district on Wednesday, leaving another person injured in the tragic incident that ended with the vehicle engulfed in flames.
Tragic Incident Details
The unfortunate event occurred near Churgi village, falling under the jurisdiction of Torpa police station. The driver, identified as 30-year-old Hasan Khan, was trapped inside the vehicle after it overturned and immediately caught fire, leading to his tragic death by burning.
According to police reports, the truck was transporting iron ore dust from Odisha to Jamshedpur when the accident happened. Torpa sub-divisional police officer Christopher Kerketta provided details about the sequence of events: "While driving on a straight road, the truck hit a tree and fell into a ditch before catching fire".
Survivor and Investigation
Miraculously, the truck's helper managed to escape the burning vehicle with minor injuries. The survivor was promptly admitted to a local hospital for medical treatment and is currently recovering.
Police authorities have initiated a thorough investigation into the cause of the accident. Officer Kerketta suggested that "probably the driver was driving the vehicle in a zig-zag manner" prior to the collision. The investigation also focuses on determining the exact cause of the fire that quickly engulfed the truck.
Cause of Fire and Owner Identification
Authorities are examining multiple possibilities that could have triggered the violent fire. "Either fuel, short circuit or gas cylinder, which are kept by drivers in vehicles, led to burst of the flames", explained Police Officer Kerketta.
Investigators have successfully identified the truck owner, who hails from Alwar in Rajasthan. The owner has been formally called to appear in Khunti on Thursday to assist with the ongoing investigation and provide additional information about the vehicle and circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
The local police continue their investigation while the community mourns the loss of Hasan Khan, whose life was cut short in this devastating road accident that highlights the continuing safety concerns on Indian highways.
