A 36-year-old truck driver was discovered murdered in a field adjacent to a railway crossing in Radhja village, located in Pethapur taluka of Gandhinagar district, on Thursday evening. The incident came to light when a relative informed the victim's cousin, Rahul Thakor, who subsequently filed a complaint with the Pethapur police.
Victim Identification and Family
The deceased has been identified as Magan Thakor, a resident of Radhja village and driver of an Eicher truck. He is survived by his wife and three children. According to the complaint, Magan left his home around 8 am on Wednesday carrying his lunchbox (tiffin) for work.
Discovery of the Body
The body was found at approximately 6:30 pm on Thursday in a field owned by a local farmer, situated near the railway crossing on the outskirts of the village. A relative notified Rahul Thakor by phone, prompting him to rush to the spot after leaving his workplace. Upon arrival, he found a crowd gathered and observed Magan lying on the ground. Blood was visible around the victim's mouth, and a dark injury mark was noted on the left side of his neck. His slippers and tiffin box were found nearby.
Police Response and Investigation
Suspecting foul play, the family alerted the Pethapur police. A police team arrived at the scene, conducted a preliminary investigation, and arranged for the body to be sent to Gandhinagar Civil Hospital for postmortem examination. The complainant stated that the circumstances surrounding the body's discovery raised suspicion that an unidentified person may have caused the victim's death. Since Magan's wife was not in a position to approach the police immediately, the complaint was lodged by his cousin, Rahul Thakor.
Based on the complaint, the Pethapur police have registered a case of murder and initiated an investigation. Authorities are examining the scene, collecting evidence, and questioning potential witnesses to identify the perpetrator. Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
