According to police reports, the complaint was filed by Deendayal, a 63-year-old resident of Deepdi village on Bhojpur Road. Deendayal, a retired village kotwar who now works as a daily wage labourer, provided a detailed statement to authorities. He explained that around 11 am on Monday, he had gone for a walk in the area.
Deendayal observed the truck parked on the roadside, with its driver sleeping inside the cabin. More alarmingly, he noticed an unidentified man, estimated to be between 25 and 30 years old, sleeping under the truck near the rear wheel, likely seeking shade from the intense midday sun.
Negligent Action Leads to Fatal Consequences
After moving ahead towards the cement factory, Deendayal heard the truck engine start. He stated that the driver, without conducting any safety checks around the vehicle, negligently moved it forward. This reckless action resulted in the truck running over the sleeping man, causing fatal injuries that led to his immediate death at the scene.
The police have taken the matter seriously and registered a formal case against the truck driver. Authorities are investigating whether the driver failed to perform basic visual inspections before operating the heavy vehicle, a standard safety protocol that could have prevented this tragedy.
