In a shocking incident in West Bengal's Bagnan, two individuals were arrested on Saturday following the burning down of a cyber cafe owned by a local BJP worker. The incident occurred in the Nuntia Crossing area under the Bagnan police station jurisdiction.
Protest and Vandalism
After the arson, local residents, including Howrah BJP secretary and advocate Omprakash Singh, staged a protest demanding the immediate arrest of the culprits. During the protest, a Trinamool Congress party office was also vandalized by the agitated crowd.
Police Investigation
The police have initiated an investigation based on a complaint filed by the shop owner, Baidyanath Pramanik. According to authorities, the miscreants wore helmets to conceal their faces while committing the crime. Pramanik's family members told reporters that they suspect antisocial elements backed by the Trinamool Congress were behind the attack. They further claimed that three days prior to the incident, some unidentified men on motorcycles had threatened Pramanik, warning him against running the cyber cafe.
Health Condition of the Victim
Following the traumatic event, Pramanik fell ill and was admitted to a nursing home, as confirmed by his family. The CCTV footage capturing the entire crime has been handed over to the police to aid in the investigation.
The police are now analyzing the footage and conducting further inquiries to identify and apprehend the remaining suspects. The incident has raised tensions in the area, with political parties trading accusations.
