Pune Police Nab Two Suspects in Kulfi Vendor Motorcycle Theft Case
In a late-night incident in Pune's Wadgaon Sheri area, Chandannagar police have made significant progress by arresting two individuals for the theft of a motorcycle belonging to a local kulfi vendor. The arrests came after a swift investigation into the crime that occurred in the early hours of Friday.
Details of the Arrest and Crime
Police have taken into custody Akash Paigude (24) and Aatish Dingare (25), both residents of Vishrantwadi. The duo is accused of stealing the motorcycle of kulfi vendor Kalyan Bhapkar (21) around 12:30 AM on Friday from the vegetable market in Wadgaon Sheri. According to authorities, the theft was motivated by frustration after their friend refused to lend them his bike.
Senior Inspector Nilesh Badakh provided crucial insights into the case, stating, "Paigude and Dingare are currently unemployed. We have registered cases of offences against the body involving them previously." He further elaborated that before targeting Bhapkar's motorcycle, the suspects had damaged their friend's motorcycle in a fit of anger over the refusal.
Escalation of Criminal Activities
The criminal actions did not stop at the theft. After successfully stealing the kulfi vendor's motorcycle, the trio—which includes a third suspect still being sought by police—proceeded to their friend's residence. There, they engaged in further misconduct by pelting stones at the house, adding to the severity of their offenses.
Kalyan Bhapkar, a resident of Wadgaon Sheri, promptly filed a formal complaint with the police following the incident. His quick action enabled law enforcement to initiate an investigation that led to the arrests of Paigude and Dingare.
Ongoing Police Investigation
Chandannagar police are actively searching for the third suspect involved in this case. The investigation continues as authorities piece together the full sequence of events and gather additional evidence. This incident highlights ongoing efforts by Pune police to address street crimes and protect local vendors and residents.
The arrest of these two individuals serves as a reminder of the consequences of criminal behavior, especially when it targets hardworking members of the community like street vendors. Police officials have assured the public that they are committed to maintaining law and order in the area.
