Two Arrested for Murder in Khunti Over Karanj Fruit Dispute
In a shocking incident in Khunti district, two individuals have been arrested for allegedly killing a woman and injuring her husband following a dispute over the collection of 'karanj' fruit. The tragic event unfolded in Katud village, where police have taken swift action to apprehend the suspects and seize the weapons used in the crime.

The deceased has been identified as Soni Pahan, aged 45, while her husband, Guiyyan Pahan, 50, sustained injuries in the attack. According to police reports, the couple's nephews, Hangra Pahan, 25, and Kunwar Pahan, 20, have been arrested in connection with the case. Khunti sub-divisional police officer Varun Rajak confirmed the arrests, stating that an axe and a lathi used in the assault have been seized as evidence.

Citing the First Information Report (FIR), police revealed that the accused forcibly entered the victims' home and attacked Soni Pahan while she was asleep on Wednesday. When Guiyyan Pahan raised an alarm in response to the violence, he was also assaulted by the perpetrators. The victims were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, but unfortunately, Soni Pahan succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival.
