Jamshedpur: Two individuals were formally arrested on Monday, a day after being detained, in connection with the murder of 24-year-old Vikas Singh. His body was discovered on Sunday near Adivasi Club, falling under the jurisdiction of Ulidih police station in Mango.
Revenge Motive Behind the Killing
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Piyush Pandey revealed that Vikas was killed in a calculated revenge plot orchestrated by relatives of Saurabh Sharma, also known as Pawan. Pawan had been killed a year ago by a group that included Vikas's brother, Vicky Singh. Vicky was arrested for Pawan's murder on March 21, 2025, but had recently been released on bail.
Execution of the Plan
To avenge his cousin's death, Raju Kumbhkar (31) masterminded the plan to kill Vikas. On Saturday night, Kumbhkar and his accomplice, Suraj Kuntia (24), lured Vikas to a liquor party at an abandoned, dilapidated house. There, they brutally assaulted him, leading to his death.
Attempt to Mislead Police
In an effort to mislead investigators, the accused wrapped Vikas's body in a mosquito net before dumping it in nearby bushes. However, police recovered the body and launched an investigation.
Evidence and Custody
Authorities have recovered the knife and iron rod used in the crime. Both accused have been remanded to judicial custody as the investigation continues.
