In a shocking incident in Ludhiana, two men have been arrested by the police for the attempted murder of a woman from Uzbekistan. The crime occurred after the victim refused to accompany the accused on a long drive.

Details of the Ludhiana Shooting Incident

The Ludhiana police have identified the arrested individuals as 50-year-old Balwinder Singh from New Harjinder Nagar in Faridkot and 32-year-old Harjinder Singh from Raghbir Nagar on Jassian Road in Ludhiana. The incident unfolded on December 11 near Pakhowal Road.

According to the police, the victim, Nazokat Sparova, a citizen of Uzbekistan currently residing in Delhi's Lajpat Nagar, has been living in India for about a year. For the last six months, she had been staying near a hotel at Bhaiwala Chowk on Pakhowal Road in Ludhiana.

Victim's Statement and Sequence of Events

While undergoing treatment at CMC Hospital, Sparova provided a statement to the authorities on December 13. She stated that her friend, Balwinder Singh, along with his associate Harjinder Singh, approached her in a car on Pakhowal Road. They asked her to join them for a drive, a request she declined.

Enraged by her refusal, Balwinder Singh allegedly retrieved a licensed revolver from his bag. He pointed the weapon at her and threatened to kill her if she did not comply. When Sparova suggested they could go out another day, Balwinder Singh, with the intent to kill, aimed the revolver at her chest and fired a shot.

The victim collapsed on the ground and is currently receiving medical care for her injuries at CMC Hospital.

Police Action and Recovery of Evidence

Based on the victim's complaint, the Sadar police station registered a case of attempted murder against the two accused on December 13. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rural) Jaskiranjit Singh Teja confirmed the swift action by the police.

A team led by Inspector Jagdev Singh, the Station House Officer of Sadar police station, acted on a tip-off. The team successfully apprehended both Balwinder Singh and Harjinder Singh near Pakhowal Road on the same day, December 13.

From the possession of the accused, the police have made crucial recoveries, including:

  • The licensed revolver used in the crime.
  • Five live cartridges.
  • The car used during the incident.

The investigation is ongoing, and the accused are in police custody facing serious charges.
