Two Arrested for Trafficking Minor Girls in Chatra

Chatra: Two persons were arrested for allegedly attempting to traffic two minor girls out of the state under the pretext of providing jobs, the police confirmed on Tuesday. The accused have been identified as Pramod Baiga, a resident of Bhugadha village under Pratappur police station area, and Vikas Kumar, an auto driver from Jogiyara village.

Complaint and Rescue Operation

The arrests were made following a complaint lodged by the uncle of one of the girls. Based on the complaint, an FIR was registered at Vashishth Nagar police station. Amit Kumar Singh, the officer-in-charge of Vashisth Nagar police station, stated, “Police had received information that the two minors were being taken through Jori with a plan to send them to another state under the guise of employment and allegedly sell them.”

Interception and Custody

A trap was laid in the area, and the accused were intercepted. The girls were rescued safely on Monday, while the two suspects were taken into custody. “The accused are being interrogated and are being sent to judicial custody,” Singh added, emphasizing that the investigation into the matter is ongoing.

The police are continuing their probe to uncover any further links or involvement of other individuals in the trafficking attempt. The rescued girls have been provided with necessary care and support.
