Two Arrested for West Delhi Housebreakings, Rs 10 Lakh Recovered

In a significant breakthrough, the Delhi Police have apprehended two young men allegedly responsible for a string of housebreakings in the western parts of the national capital. The arrests led to the recovery of gold and silver jewellery valued at approximately Rs 10 lakh.

CCTV Footage and Tech Tracking Lead to Arrests

The case unfolded after a complaint was registered on Monday concerning a theft of cash and jewellery from a residence in the Moti Nagar area. The perpetrators had gained entry through a break-in. According to DCP (West) Darade Sharad Bhaskar, the police team utilized CCTV footage from the vicinity and acted on local intelligence inputs to identify the suspects.

"The suspects were identified using CCTV footage and local intelligence. The team kept tracking their movements using technical inputs," stated DCP Bhaskar. This persistent technical surveillance ultimately traced the duo to a park in Jahangirpuri on Tuesday, where they were taken into custody.

First-Time Offenders Behind Multiple Burglaries

The arrested individuals have been identified as Sehzad and Sheikh Zishan, both 23-year-old residents of Jahangirpuri. Police investigations have revealed that both are first-time offenders. Despite their lack of prior criminal records, the police have connected them to a series of burglaries in the area.

With their arrest, the Moti Nagar police claim to have successfully worked out seven cases of burglary that were registered at the local police station. The recovery of the high-value jewellery from their possession provided crucial material evidence linking them to the crimes.

Police Crackdown on West Delhi Thefts

This successful operation highlights the Delhi Police's focus on curbing property crimes in the west Delhi district. The use of a combination of traditional intelligence gathering and modern technical surveillance proved effective in cracking the case. The arrest of the two accused is expected to bring relief to multiple victims in the Moti Nagar and surrounding areas who had suffered losses due to the housebreakings.

The police are now conducting further investigations to determine if the accused were involved in other unsolved thefts and to ascertain the complete chain of events regarding the disposal of stolen goods.
