Police Encounter Leads to Arrest of Two in Cow Slaughter Case

In a dramatic late-night operation, Jalaun police arrested two individuals linked to a cow slaughter case after an encounter on the Khowa-Rawa road. The incident unfolded on Tuesday night, resulting in both accused being shot in the leg and rushed to the district hospital for medical treatment.

Checking Drive Turns Confrontational

Police launched a checking drive on the Khowa-Rawa road late Tuesday. When officers attempted to stop suspicious bike riders, the situation escalated quickly. The riders opened fire on the police team, prompting an immediate response.

In self-defence, police retaliated with gunfire. Both accused sustained leg injuries during the exchange. Officers arrested them on the spot without further incident.

Senior Officials Inspect the Scene

Senior Superintendent of Police Pradeep Kumar Verma and Konch Circle Officer reached the location promptly. They conducted a thorough inspection of the scene to gather evidence and assess the situation.

Intelligence Led to the Operation

Police acted on specific intelligence about an inter-district cow slaughter gang. Authorities received information that gang members planned to carry out an operation in the Bhed area. Based on this tip, intensive checking measures were put in place.

The in-charge of Bhed outpost received further details. He learned that Javed, also known as Kalla, and Asghar had left on a motorcycle. Both men are residents of Araji Line in Konch and were involved in the case.

Accused Attempted to Flee

Upon seeing the police, the accused tried to escape. They fired several rounds at the police party, escalating the confrontation. Police returned fire in retaliation, hitting both men in the legs and causing them to fall on the spot.

Recovery of Evidence

During a subsequent search, police made significant recoveries. They found two .315 bore pistols along with live and empty cartridges. Officers also seized cash, the motorcycle used in the crime, and various cow slaughter tools.

Further legal action is now underway as authorities continue their investigation into the case.
