Chandigarh police have arrested two individuals and recovered several stolen vehicles during a routine checking operation. The accused were found in possession of forged documents and were allegedly involved in a vehicle theft racket.
Details of the Arrest
The police team, led by Inspector Rajesh Kumar, intercepted a suspicious car near Sector 17. Upon checking, they discovered that the vehicle's registration number was fake. Further investigation led to the recovery of two more cars and three motorcycles from the accused's hideout in Manimajra.
Recovered Items
Police recovered five stolen vehicles, including three cars and two motorcycles. The vehicles were stolen from different parts of the city and nearby areas. The accused had also altered the chassis numbers and used fake registration plates.
The suspects, identified as Ranveer Singh and Gurpreet Singh, both residents of Mohali, have been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicles Act. They are being interrogated to uncover the entire network.
Police have urged citizens to verify the documents of vehicles they purchase from the second-hand market to avoid falling prey to such scams. Further investigations are underway.
