Bhopal: Two men were burnt alive after their vehicles were engulfed in flames following a head-on collision between a truck and a dumper near Phule Ka Pura village in Gwalior district early Wednesday.

Accident Details

The accident occurred around 2 am. Police reported that the dumper was traveling towards Datia, while the truck was heading to Gwalior. The collision was so intense that the front portions of both vehicles were crushed and mangled.

The impact trapped both drivers inside their cabins. Moments later, a fire broke out after the fuel tank of one of the vehicles ruptured. The flames quickly consumed both vehicles.

Victims Identified

The deceased were identified as Jitendra Singh Gurjar, 30, a resident of Morena who was driving the dumper, and Surendra Singh Gurjar of Bangroli village in Morena district who was behind the wheel of the truck.

Rescue Efforts

Villagers and police personnel rushed to the spot after learning of the crash. They made desperate attempts to douse the flames and rescue the drivers. However, the fire was raging furiously, making it nearly impossible to reach the cabins and pull them out safely.

By the time the fire brigade arrived, both drivers had perished.

Investigation

Later in the day, a forensic team arrived at the scene to collect evidence. The charred human remains were recovered after considerable effort and sent for post-mortem examination.
