In a major breakthrough, the Chandigarh Police arrested two notorious criminals and recovered pistols and cartridges from their possession. The accused, identified as Ravi Kumar and Sunil Singh, were apprehended during a routine patrol in the Industrial Area Phase 1. Acting on a tip-off, a police team laid a trap and nabbed the duo near a vacant plot. Upon searching, the police recovered two country-made pistols and a dozen live cartridges from them.

Details of the Arrest

The operation was led by Inspector Rajesh Sharma, who stated that both accused have a criminal history and were wanted in several cases of robbery and assault. Ravi Kumar has three cases registered against him in different police stations, while Sunil Singh has two pending cases. The police are now interrogating them to uncover their network and any possible links to other criminal activities in the region.

Legal Proceedings Initiated

A case under the Arms Act has been registered at the Industrial Area police station. The accused were produced before a local court and remanded to police custody for further investigation. The police are also trying to trace the source of the illegal weapons.
