Police in Jaisalmer have taken swift action by detaining two individuals following the circulation of a shocking video on social media. The footage depicts a young man from Barmer being subjected to a brutal assault, including being forced to drink urine and consume dog waste.
Incident Details and Police Response
The alleged incident occurred on March 26 at approximately 1 PM in Logon Ki Dhani village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Sheo police station. According to authorities, the victim, identified as Devi Singh, an employee at a solar company, was confronted by a group of youths. They accused him of storing photos and chats related to girls from their family on his mobile phone.
The confrontation quickly escalated into violence. Police reports indicate that the accused individuals beat Devi Singh, blackened his face, and cut his hair. In a further act of humiliation, they allegedly forced him to drink urine and eat dog waste.
Viral Video and Investigation
Barmer ASP Nitesh Arya provided details about the 43-second video clip that has gone viral. The footage shows the young man sitting on the ground with his face blackened, while others, who are filming the scene, compel him to consume the filth. The victim is visibly distressed, seen refusing and appearing to vomit during the ordeal.
Police acted promptly after the video surfaced, detaining two accused individuals on Tuesday. They have been identified as the main accused, Prakash Singh, and his associate, Vijay Dan. Authorities have confirmed that a search is underway for the remaining suspects involved in this heinous act.
Victim's Statement and Case Registration
Initially, the victim did not report the incident to the police. However, he came forward after the video gained widespread attention online. A formal case was registered based on a complaint filed by family members of the victim.
The investigation is currently relying on the viral video evidence and the statement provided by Devi Singh. Preliminary findings from the police suggest that the dispute originated from a WhatsApp chat between the victim and a girl, which allegedly triggered the violent retaliation.
