Two Die in Separate Road Accidents in Gurgaon

Gurgaon: A bike taxi driver and a private company employee lost their lives after a speeding truck struck them from behind near Dada Sati Chowk on Tuesday morning. The truck involved in the accident has been seized, but the driver is absconding, an officer said.

Police reported that the incident occurred around 11 am. The bike taxi was being driven by Jaipal (24), while Rohit Kumar Gupta (32) was riding pillion. Both were natives of Uttar Pradesh.

According to a complaint filed by Gupta's father, Vinod, Rohit had been living in Shanti Vihar, Sector 95, for the past five years. On Tuesday, Gupta had booked a bike taxi to reach his office in Okhla.

“At approximately 11 am, after crossing Sati Chowk and proceeding a short distance ahead, a truck being driven recklessly by an unidentified person struck the motorcycle from behind,” the complaint read.

Police investigation revealed that both occupants fell from the motorcycle due to the impact and sustained serious injuries. Passers-by took both injured persons to a nearby hospital, where Gupta was declared brought dead, while Jaipal succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

An officer involved in the investigation said a case has been registered under sections 106 (death by negligence) and 281 (rash driving) at Kherki Daula police station. Teams have been formed to nab the truck driver. “We will send a notice to the owner of the truck and take necessary action. Meanwhile, teams are trying to establish the identity of the truck driver and apprehend him as soon as possible,” he said.

Another Fatal Accident

In a separate incident, a 28-year-old man died during treatment at AIIMS Delhi more than a week after sustaining severe head injuries in a road accident near Feroz Gandhi Colony. The deceased was identified as Dasrath, a resident of Ambedkar Nagar in Sector 9.

Police registered an FIR against an unidentified vehicle at Sector 9A police station under relevant sections of the BNS.

According to the complaint filed by Lakshman Kumar, the victim's uncle, the accident took place on May 4 when he was travelling from Sector 9 towards Feroz Gandhi Colony. He saw a man lying injured near a motorcycle on the roadside and upon checking, found it was his nephew.

Lakshman, along with some passers-by, shifted Dasrath to Civil Hospital in Sector 10 by ambulance. Due to the seriousness of his condition, doctors referred him to AIIMS Delhi for further treatment. Dasrath succumbed to his injuries at around 2:30 am on Tuesday, police said.

A team from Sector 9A police station reached the hospital and collected the medico-legal report. An officer said, “A team later visited AIIMS Delhi on May 7 to record the victim's statement, but doctors declared him unfit. Subsequently, the statement of the victim's maternal aunt was recorded. The family later approached the police station with a written complaint after Dasrath's death.”

Third Accident

In yet another accident, a man was found dead in Sector 78, suspectedly hit by a speeding vehicle. Police received information about the incident at around 10 pm. “We are checking CCTV footage from nearby areas to ascertain the vehicle involved,” an officer said. A case has been registered at Kherki Daula police station.
