Hisar: Two men, including a truck owner and its driver, died after being electrocuted when an overhead electricity wire reportedly came into contact with their truck at the grain market in Bani village under Rania subdivision of Sirsa district on Sunday afternoon.
Incident Details
Police reported that the victims were engaged in wheat lifting when the incident occurred, triggering panic among traders and labourers present at the market. The deceased were identified as Nattha Singh (57) and Gursewak Singh (60), both residents of Rama Mandi in Punjab. The duo had parked their truck at the Bani grain market for transporting wheat stocks.
According to officials, as the two men boarded the truck and attempted to move out of the mandi, an overhead electricity wire touched the vehicle, causing instantaneous electrocution. Both died on the spot.
Investigation Underway
Police stated that the exact circumstances surrounding the incident are being examined. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to determine the cause of the wire's contact with the truck and any potential negligence. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of electrical infrastructure in the area. Local traders and labourers expressed shock and demanded stricter maintenance of power lines to prevent such tragedies.
