Tragic Friday on Nashik Roads Claims Two Lives
Nashik witnessed a grim day on Friday as two separate road accidents resulted in fatalities. The incidents occurred in different parts of the city, leaving families in mourning.
First Accident: Hit-and-Run on Highway
The Adgaon police reported the first tragic event. Ritesh Suryawanshi, a 23-year-old resident of Peth Naka in Panchavati, lost his life. He was riding a motorcycle with two friends, Parmeshwar Shinde and Prakash Jadhav, as pillion riders.
The trio had traveled to Niphad for work. They were returning to Nashik when disaster struck near Odha village on the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Highway.
A white car driven by an unidentified person hit them from behind. The impact proved fatal for Suryawanshi, who succumbed to his injuries. His friends sustained serious injuries in the crash.
The car driver immediately fled the scene, leaving the victims behind. Police have registered a case for rash driving and causing death due to negligence against the unknown driver. Investigations are currently ongoing.
Second Accident: Truck Overtaking Turns Deadly
The second accident unfolded on Kalanagar-Wadala Road at 2:45 PM. This incident claimed the life of Yashoda Kamble, a 55-year-old woman from Chunchale in Ambad.
Kamble was riding pillion on a scooter driven by her nephew, Deepak Taur. They were heading towards the Pune highway from Wadala Road when a truck attempted to overtake them.
The truck cut them off during the maneuver, causing Taur to lose control of the scooter. Both riders fell onto the road. Tragically, Kamble came under the rear tyre of the truck and died instantly at the spot.
The truck driver did not stop and escaped from the location. The Indiranagar police have taken up the investigation into this case as well.
Police Response and Ongoing Efforts
Authorities are actively working on both cases. The Adgaon police are pursuing leads to identify the white car driver involved in the first accident. They emphasize the severity of hit-and-run incidents on highways.
Meanwhile, the Indiranagar police are examining the circumstances of the truck accident. They aim to locate the driver responsible for Kamble's death.
These back-to-back tragedies highlight ongoing road safety concerns in Nashik. Police urge drivers to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent such losses.
