In a significant crackdown on illegal liquor trade, the Chandigarh police have arrested two individuals and seized a substantial quantity of illicit liquor from their possession. The arrests were made during a routine patrol in the sector 39 area late Tuesday night.

Details of the Operation

According to police officials, the accused were identified as Raj Kumar and Suresh Kumar, both residents of neighboring states. They were transporting the illicit liquor in a car when they were intercepted by a police team. Upon searching the vehicle, officers recovered 120 cartons of illicit liquor, each containing 12 bottles.

Legal Proceedings

The accused have been booked under the Excise Act and were produced before the local court on Wednesday. The police have launched a further investigation to trace the source of the illicit liquor and any possible links to a larger smuggling network.
