Two Cousins Killed in Biharsharif Village Clash Triggered by Thresher Dispute
A violent clash between two rival groups in a Bihar village has resulted in the deaths of two individuals, with police confirming that a trivial dispute over the use of a thresher escalated into fatal gunfire. The incident occurred on Friday night at Akauna village under the Sarari police station area of Sheikhpura district, sending shockwaves through the local community.
Details of the Deceased and the Dispute
The deceased have been identified as Puna Yadav, also known as Parmeshwar (65), and Premranjan, alias Santosh Yadav (35). Both victims were cousins and residents of the same village, highlighting the tragic familial dimension of this conflict. According to Superintendent of Police Baliram Chaudhary, the clash was sparked by a heated argument over the use of a thresher, a common agricultural implement.
"Two groups of villagers got into a heated argument, which escalated into a violent clash. Supporters of Rajesh Yadav and Premranjan alias Santosh Yadav were involved," stated SP Chaudhary, emphasizing how a minor disagreement spiraled out of control.
Escalation to Gunfire and Fatal Injuries
The situation turned deadly when members of both groups allegedly produced country-made firearms and opened fire on each other. Puna Yadav suffered a gunshot wound to the head and died instantly at the scene. Premranjan sustained critical bullet injuries and was initially treated at Sheikhpura sadar hospital before being referred to Bhagwan Mahavir Institute of Medical Sciences (BMIMS) in Pawapuri, where he later succumbed to his wounds during treatment.
Police Response and Allegations
In response to the violence, police have detained five individuals for questioning, including Rajesh Yadav, Amrit Yadav, and Kailash Yadav. Security forces have been deployed in the village to prevent any further escalation of tensions. As of Saturday afternoon, an FIR had not yet been registered, with authorities indicating that investigations are ongoing.
Meanwhile, Sanjeet Kumar, the son of Puna Yadav, has provided a conflicting account of the events. He alleges that the dispute began with an argument between Rajesh Yadav and Premranjan over the thresher. "My father went there to pacify them, but Premranjan suddenly pulled out a gun and shot him dead," Sanjeet claimed, further accusing Amrit Yadav and Raju Yadav of instigating the attack.
Ongoing Investigation and Community Impact
Police officials have assured that a thorough investigation is underway to determine the exact sequence of events and hold those responsible accountable. The incident has underscored the potential for minor disputes to escalate into lethal violence in rural areas, raising concerns about community safety and conflict resolution mechanisms.
This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the need for effective policing and community dialogue to prevent such outbreaks of violence in the future.
