Kochi witnessed two tragic road accidents on Monday, resulting in the deaths of two individuals. The first incident occurred around 4 am near Athani in the Nedumbassery police station limits. Ishana Ismath, a 22-year-old woman from Kasaragod, was killed when a car rammed the two-wheeler she was riding pillion on. The accident took place near a petrol pump along the Athani-Airport VIP Road. She was rushed to a private hospital in Angamaly but succumbed to her injuries. The male rider of the two-wheeler sustained injuries, including a fractured right hand. Nedumbassery police have registered an FIR and initiated an investigation.
Second Accident Claims Life of 58-Year-Old Man
In a separate incident on Monday morning at 6 am, a 58-year-old man named Dineshan from Udayamperoor lost his life after a truck knocked down his scooter near Choorakkad Junction. According to police, the scooter was hit by a truck traveling from Kottayam to Irinjalakuda near the Udupi Hotel. Dineshan, who was seriously injured, was rushed to Tripunithura Taluk Hospital but later died. He was returning home after dropping his son off at the railway station.
Police Investigations Underway
Both cases have been registered, and authorities are conducting investigations to determine the exact causes of the accidents. The incidents highlight the need for increased road safety measures in the region.
