Police Apprehend Duo Linked to Banned Outfit
In a significant operation, the West Singhbhum district police have successfully arrested two individuals suspected of being associates of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist). The arrests took place on Tuesday within the jurisdiction of the Manoharpur police station. Following legal procedures, both suspects were remanded to judicial custody and sent to jail on Wednesday.
Chase and Capture in Nandpur Village
Acting on specific intelligence, a police team led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Jaydeep Tigga conducted a raid in Nandpur village. Upon spotting the police, the two men attempted to flee the scene. However, the officers gave chase and managed to apprehend them after a brief pursuit.
During a subsequent frisking operation, the police made a crucial recovery. A Maoist handbill was found in the possession of one of the suspects, providing tangible evidence of their alleged links to the proscribed extremist organization.
Identities and Ongoing Investigation
The arrested individuals have been identified as Durjan Jate, also known as Durga, aged 29, and Vimal Nag, aged 22. Official records indicate that both are residents of a village that falls under the Goilkera police station limits in the West Singhbhum district.
Speaking about the development, SDPO Jaydeep Tigga confirmed the arrests and stated that a detailed interrogation of the suspects is planned. The primary objective of this questioning is to gather more information about their backgrounds, activities, and connections within the left-wing extremist network. This intelligence is vital for understanding their role and potentially preventing future unlawful activities in the region.
