In a significant late-night operation on Saturday, a coordinated team comprising the Bihar Special Task Force (STF) and police personnel from Nawada district in Bihar and Giridih district in Jharkhand successfully arrested two alleged Maoists. The operation, which unfolded under the cover of darkness, led to the capture of the individuals identified as Pankaj Yadav, aged 22, and Pawan Kumar Singh, aged 23.
Details of the Arrest and Recovered Materials
According to official statements, the duo was found hiding at a relative's residence located in Manjhlatol village within the Giridih district of Jharkhand. During the meticulously planned raid, law enforcement officers recovered a cache of incriminating materials. This seizure included explosives and various arms, underscoring the potential threat posed by the apprehended individuals.
Pankaj Yadav is a resident of Chilkakhar village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Charkapathar police station area in Jamui district, Bihar. Pawan Kumar Singh, on the other hand, hails from Bhagalpur village, situated under the Satgawan police station limits in Koderma district, Jharkhand.
Criminal Backgrounds and Serious Charges
Police authorities have revealed that both individuals face a series of grave criminal charges. Pankaj Yadav is accused in multiple cases, including murder and the illegal possession of arms. Furthermore, he is under suspicion for his alleged involvement in the killing of former Maoist commander Lakhon Yadav, adding a layer of complexity to his criminal profile.
Similarly, Pawan Kumar Singh is also charged with murder and the unlawful possession of arms, as confirmed by the investigating teams. These allegations highlight the severe nature of their purported activities and the importance of their apprehension.
Execution of the Operation and Leadership
The Bihar Police contingent was spearheaded by STF inspector Ayodhya Prasad, who played a pivotal role in orchestrating the operation. An STF official elaborated on the methodology behind the arrests, stating that the action was initiated based on a combination of technical surveillance and precise intelligence inputs.
"Police received critical information through the technical cell indicating that the two Maoists were residing in Manjhlatol village in Giridih. After thorough verification of this input, the STF team swiftly moved to the location, surrounded the specified house, and successfully effected the arrests," the official explained. This approach demonstrates the effectiveness of modern policing techniques in tackling insurgent activities.
The joint effort between Bihar and Jharkhand police forces marks a continued commitment to curbing Maoist influence in the region, ensuring enhanced security and stability for the local communities.
