Guwahati: A chain-snatching incident has come to light in the Boragaon area of the city, where two unidentified men allegedly entered a house, incapacitated the homeowner, and stole her gold chain. The incident occurred on Friday, leaving the victim, Kalpana Kalita, in shock.
Details of the Incident
Police officers from the Garchuk police station reported that the two men approached the woman when she was alone at home. Posing as agents from a private bank, they gained entry into the house. Once inside, one of the men sprayed an intoxicating substance on her, rendering her unconscious. They then snatched the gold chain from her neck and fled the scene.
After regaining consciousness, Kalpana immediately informed her family members, who subsequently alerted the police. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway.
Police Investigation
Authorities have not yet identified the accused. However, police teams have been dispatched to track them down. Officers are also scouring through footage from nearby CCTV cameras to gather clues about the suspects. The police have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
