Two Minor Girls Missing in Ludhiana, Kidnapping Cases Filed

Ludhiana: Two minor girls have gone missing from their homes under separate circumstances, prompting the police to register kidnapping cases. In the first incident, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped by a juvenile laborer who wanted to marry her, but her family had rejected his proposal. In the second case, a 16-year-old girl was taken away by an individual on the pretext of marriage.

First Case: Juvenile Laborer Accused of Kidnapping

The police have booked a juvenile laborer under sections 137(2) (kidnapping) and 96 (procuration of child) of the BNS based on a complaint filed by the mother of the minor girl. According to the father, the 14-year-old left home on June 1, saying she was going to get her mobile phone repaired. When she did not return, the family searched the locality in vain. Hours later, the girl called her father from the accused's mobile phone, claiming she had been kidnapped.

The father alleged that the accused had snatched his daughter's mobile phone and later lured her to retrieve it. When she went to meet him to get the phone back, the accused kidnapped her. The father added that the accused hailed from their hometown in Uttar Pradesh and was known to them. He had previously proposed marriage to the girl, but the family rejected it, leading to the alleged kidnapping.
