Two Nigerian Nationals Arrested with Cocaine in South Delhi

New Delhi: Two foreign nationals were arrested in south Delhi’s Maidan Garhi on Sunday night for allegedly trafficking narcotics, with police seizing a commercial quantity of cocaine along with other psychotropic substances.

Details of the Arrest

Police said the arrests were made after specific intelligence was received on April 27 about two men arriving in the area to supply drugs. Acting on the tip-off, a Maidan Garhi police team laid a trap at the identified spot. Around 10:30 pm, the suspects were seen riding a scooter bearing a Haryana registration number and were intercepted and apprehended.

Seized Substances

During the search, police recovered 102 grams of cocaine — classified as a commercial quantity — along with 13 grams of MDMA and 85 grams of methaqualone, which falls under the intermediate quantity category.

Accused Identified

The accused have been identified as Chijioke Wisdom (26), a resident of Lagos, Nigeria, and Chiqozie (43), from Owerri in Imo State, Nigeria. Police said both were found residing in India without valid visas.

Previous Criminal Records

According to police records, Wisdom was previously booked under the NDPS Act in a 2025 case registered at Hazrat Nizamuddin police station, while Chiqozie was earlier involved in a 2014 attempt-to-murder case registered at Dabri Mor police station.

Legal Proceedings

A case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Maidan Garhi police station. Police said further investigation is underway to trace the supply chain and identify possible links of the accused.
