Idukki: Two school buses parked inside a shed were completely gutted in a fire at Deepa High School in Kuzhitholu, Idukki. The incident occurred around 11am on Tuesday, causing significant damage to the vehicles.

Fire Breaks Out in Bus Shed

According to reports, the fire first broke out in one of the buses parked inside the shed. Residents who noticed flames rising from the vehicle immediately informed school authorities and the fire force. Within minutes, the fire spread to the second bus as well, engulfing both vehicles in flames.

Suspected Cause of the Fire

A short circuit that occurred during welding work near the shed is suspected to have caused the fire, according to preliminary findings. The welding work may have sparked the initial flames, which quickly escalated.

Firefighting Efforts

Fire and rescue services personnel from Kattappana and Nedumkandam managed to douse the flames with the assistance of local residents. Despite their efforts, both buses were completely destroyed in the blaze. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Police Investigation

Kambammettu police have initiated further proceedings to investigate the exact cause of the fire. Authorities are also assessing the total loss incurred by the school.
