Kolhapur: Two tragic suicide cases were reported in Kolhapur city on Wednesday, leaving the community in shock. In the first incident, a 33-year-old contractor ended his life by jumping from the sixth floor of an apartment building. The second case involved a 56-year-old man who jumped into Rankala Lake.
Details of the First Incident
The deceased has been identified as Shrikant Suryakant Katkar, a resident of Lambore Housing Society in Kadamwadi. According to police reports, the incident occurred around 2 pm on Wednesday. Katkar, who worked as a contractor, jumped from the sixth floor of an apartment complex. The reasons behind his extreme step are yet to be ascertained, and an investigation is underway.
Second Incident at Rankala Lake
In the second case, the deceased was identified as Arun Dinkar Gawali (56), a resident of Harale Galli in Shivaji Peth. Gawali was employed at a toy shop on Mahadwar Road. On Wednesday, he jumped into Rankala Lake. Some youths present at the lake noticed him and immediately sprang into action. They managed to fish him out of the water and rushed him to the CPR Hospital. However, the doctors on duty declared him dead upon arrival.
The police have registered cases in both incidents and are conducting further investigations to determine the circumstances that led to these unfortunate events.
