Tragic Drowning Incident at Fatahan Ghat
In a tragic incident on Monday afternoon, two teenage boys drowned in the Ganga River while bathing at Fatahan Ghat, located in the City Kotwali police station area of Mirzapur district. One body has been recovered, while search operations are ongoing for the other.
Details of the Victims
According to police reports, the deceased have been identified as Naitik (14), a resident of Pratapnagar Metro Sabji Mandi, New Delhi, and Aarush (17) from Arjunpur. Naitik had come to Arjunpur to attend a wedding and, along with Aarush, went to the ghat for bathing. Both drowned in the river.
Search and Rescue Efforts
Upon receiving information, police personnel promptly arrived at the scene and initiated a search operation with the help of local divers and boatmen. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and local divers successfully recovered the body of Aarush. However, the search for Naitik is still underway.
Local authorities have urged residents and visitors to exercise caution while bathing in the river, especially during the monsoon season when water levels and currents can be unpredictable.
