Two Vloggers Held for Extortion Threat to Pocso Accused's Father

Kottayam: Two vloggers have been arrested for allegedly threatening the father of a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) case accused and attempting to extort Rs 10 lakh from him in Adoor, Pathanamthitta. The accused were identified as Agni Juwel, 33, of Agastikode in Anchal, and Aneesh Vijayan, 35, of Thonnakkal in Thiruvananthapuram. Police apprehended them from Adoor town.

Details of the Incident

Sreejith, the owner of a YouTube channel, along with his wife and Agni Juwel, Aneesh Vijayan, and Rahim, who work with another YouTube channel based around Punalur and Anchal, allegedly claimed they had obtained incriminating videos from the phone of the Pocso accused through some police personnel. Agni Juwel and Aneesh then repeatedly demanded Rs 10 lakh from the father of the accused, threatening to circulate videos of his son's arrest in the Pocso case via their channels if the money was not paid.

Negotiation and Complaint

The complainant informed the men that he did not have such a large amount. After discussions, they reached a settlement, and he agreed to pay Rs 2.5 lakh. However, the man then filed a complaint with the Adoor police. According to police sources, when the two accused arrived in Adoor on Friday to collect the money, they were arrested.

The arrested individuals were produced in court and remanded. The investigation is ongoing to trace other involved parties.
