Bhilwara: A tragic incident occurred in Chittorgarh district's Dhanora village early Wednesday, where a woman and her mother-in-law lost their lives after being electrocuted by a snapped high-tension power line near their field hut, police reported.
Victims Identified
The deceased have been identified as Manju Prajapat (35) and her mother-in-law, Santosh Bai (65), according to police officials.
Details of the Incident
Police stated that the incident took place around 2 am when an 11kV power line snapped and fell onto a low-tension line, causing it to break and carry high-voltage current. Bhopraj Prajapat, a resident of Dhanora, recounted that he, his wife, mother, and two children were sleeping in a hut in their field when the incident occurred.
Manju was the first to come into contact with the live wire. Santosh Bai was electrocuted while attempting to rescue her daughter-in-law. Both women suffered severe burns. Family members and villagers rushed them to Nimbahera district hospital, where doctors declared them dead upon arrival.
Fire and Investigation
A fire broke out in the hut following the incident but was extinguished by villagers. Police have registered a case based on Bhopraj Prajapat's complaint and launched an investigation. After postmortems were conducted by a medical board on Wednesday, the bodies were handed over to the family.
