Phagwara: The Mehatpur police have apprehended two women for allegedly disrupting the general house meeting of a village Gram Sabha. The accused have been identified as Rainu and Gurbakash Kaur, both residents of Mehsampur village. The sarpanch of the village lodged a complaint stating that the accused disrupted the meeting, threatened members, and used abusive language against them.
Three Booked for Forgery
Phagwara: The Nakodar police have registered a case against three individuals, including a woman, for allegedly submitting forged documents in a court. The accused are Jagdish Singh of Rasulpur village, Gurjit Kaur, and Amarjit Singh of Kartarpur in Jalandhar. The case was initiated after Dinesh Thapar, reader to the Judicial Magistrate at Nakodar, forwarded a court order directing police action. The accused are accused of submitting fake surety bonds while seeking bail in a case.
Truck Driver Arrested for Fatal Accident
Hoshiarpur: The Bilga police arrested a truck driver in connection with a death caused by negligence. The accused, identified as Dilpreet (alias Chirri), a resident of Talwan village, was driving fast and negligently when he struck Kamaljit Singh's motorcycle on the night of June 12, resulting in his death.
Three Assaulted
Phagwara: Police have booked three members of a family for assaulting a villager. The accused are Jagdish Lal of Ismailpur village, his wife Seema Rani, and son Gagan Deep. Resham Lal of the village complained that the accused barged into his house and assaulted him.
Three Motorcycles Stolen
Hoshiarpur: The Nakodar police have registered a case against unidentified miscreants for stealing three motorcycles. Ajay Kumar of Mohalla Sundar Nagar, Pradeep Kumar of Malarri village, and PNB manager Balwindar Kumar reported that their motorcycles were stolen by unknown persons.
Two Alleged Drug Peddlers Arrested
Phagwara: The Nakodar police arrested a man for selling intoxicating tablets. Police recovered 37 intoxicating tablets from accused Gurjindar Singh of Hussainpur village. Separately, the Nurmahal police arrested Davindar Singh of Mohalla Kotla, Nurmahal, with 52 intoxicating tablets.
