For more severe infractions, such as entering valleys during active water flow, the penalties are stricter: a Dh2,000 fine, 23 black points, and a 60-day vehicle impoundment. Authorities stress that this remains a serious offence regardless of how safe the situation may appear, noting that even shallow or slow-moving water poses serious risks.

In addition to flood zone warnings, officials have highlighted penalties for obstructing emergency response teams during severe weather. Anyone found hindering police, ambulance, or rescue operations faces a Dh1,000 fine, four black points, and a 60-day vehicle impoundment. This underscores the importance of keeping routes clear to facilitate swift emergency responses. Separately, Abu Dhabi Police have urged motorists to take precautions before and during travel in unstable weather. Drivers are advised to check weather forecasts before setting out, avoid roads with water accumulation, and stay away from floodwaters entirely.

The Traffic and Patrols Directorate has reinforced safe driving practices to mitigate risks during poor weather. Motorists are urged to reduce speed, maintain safe distances between vehicles, and avoid distractions such as filming or using mobile phones while driving. Authorities warn that such distractions increase the risk of accidents, particularly in adverse conditions.
