Police in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district carried out coordinated raids at multiple locations on Thursday as part of an ongoing investigation into a case registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Details of the Raids
The searches were conducted at the residences of four individuals: Faraz Ashraf Gojri of Iqbal Colony; Waseem Ali Kar of Kanli Bagh; Tanveer Ahmad Mir alias Kaka Mir of Tawheed Gunj, currently residing at Gulnar Park, Azad Gunj; and Waseem Hussain Mir of Khawajabagh Jetty, Baramulla, according to a police spokesman.
During the operation, law enforcement officials seized four mobile phones and one laptop from the premises. The electronic devices have been secured and will be sent for forensic examination to aid the investigation, the spokesman added.
Legal Framework and Transparency
The case was initially registered at Baramulla police station under Section 13 (unlawful activities) of the UAPA and Section 351(3) (aggravated threats) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The searches were conducted strictly in accordance with legal provisions, in the presence of executive magistrates and independent witnesses, ensuring transparency and adherence to due process.
These proceedings are part of Baramulla Police's sustained efforts to investigate offences related to unlawful activities in a professional, lawful, and transparent manner while safeguarding public order and national security, the spokesman said.
