Udaipur Police Crackdown: 4 Gang Members Arrested, Illegal Weapons Seized
Udaipur Police Arrest 4 Gang Members, Seize Illegal Arms

In a significant blow to organised crime in Rajasthan, Udaipur police conducted a successful operation on Sunday leading to the arrest of four alleged members of the notorious Naresh Harijan gang. The police team also recovered a cache of illegal weapons during the raid conducted in the Hiran Magri area.

Major Police Operation in Hiran Magri

The crackdown was executed under the direct supervision of Udaipur SP Yogesh Goyal by a joint team comprising the District Special Team (DST) and officers from Hiran Magri police station. The operation was launched after DST in-charge ASI Vikram Singh received specific intelligence about criminals attempting to sell illegal firearms in the Subcity Centre area of Hiran Magri.

Acting swiftly on the tip-off, police teams were formed under the supervision of ASP Umesh Ojha and CO Chhagan Purohit, with the operation being led by SHO Bharat Yogi. The police strategically cordoned off the area before moving in to apprehend the suspects.

Arrests and Weapons Recovery

The police successfully arrested four individuals identified as Pushpendra Singh Rathore alias Lalla (Surajpol resident), Kamlendra Singh Gahlot alias Rahul (Surajpol), Aditya Puri Goswami alias Anshu (Govardhan Vilas), and Gautam Handeriya (Hiran Magri).

During the operation, law enforcement officials seized:

  • Three country-made pistols
  • One magazine
  • Two live cartridges

Preliminary interrogation of the accused revealed that they had obtained these weapons from Naresh Harijan, the gang's leader who remains at large and is wanted in multiple criminal cases, approximately six months ago.

Criminal Background and Legal Action

All four arrested individuals have extensive criminal histories registered across various police stations in Udaipur. Their criminal records include serious charges such as:

  • Assault cases
  • Attempt to murder
  • Violations under the Arms Act

In a significant legal move, the police have registered cases against the accused not only under the Arms Act but also under serious sections of organised crime under BNS 2023. This strategic legal approach is expected to make it considerably more difficult for the accused to obtain bail and avoid punishment, reflecting the police's determined effort to curb organised criminal activities in the region.

The successful operation marks an important achievement for Udaipur police in their ongoing campaign against organised crime networks operating in the city.
