Four dead in Azamgarh road accident on Varanasi highway

Varanasi: At least four persons were killed and one sustained injuries in a road accident near Bardiha Mod in the Devgaon Kotwali police station area of Azamgarh district on Friday night. According to reports, the accident occurred on the Azamgarh–Varanasi national highway when a speeding car collided with a trailer. The collision left the car severely damaged, with the occupants getting trapped inside the vehicle. Police, with the help of locals, pulled out the victims and rushed them to the hospital.

CO Lalganj Bhupesh Pandey said that at around 11.30 pm, information was received about a head-on collision between a car bearing a Jharkhand registration number and a trailer, in which several people were injured. During treatment, four persons died, while one is undergoing treatment. Police said the bodies have been sent for post-mortem, but the deceased are yet to be identified.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the victims were returning to Jharkhand after offering prayers at Kichhauchha Sharif. The police have taken both vehicles to the police station and further investigation is underway.
