A 43-year-old unemployed man from Dombivli was arrested on Friday for allegedly sexually assaulting his two daughters, including a 10-year-old minor, over several years, police said.
Details of the abuse
According to the FIR filed at the Manpada police station, the accused abused his 19-year-old elder daughter for the past four years. The assaults came to light recently when he attempted to target his younger 9-year-old daughter. The elder sibling, upon discovering this, revealed the long-standing abuse to their mother.
Legal action and arrest
The mother immediately approached the local police, leading to the registration of an offence under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The accused was arrested shortly after. Police confirmed that the man was taken into custody and investigations are ongoing.
Modus operandi
Police said the accused took advantage of being at home and allegedly sexually abused the elder daughter by threatening her not to disclose the incidents to anyone. The family consists of four daughters and one son, with the wife working to support the household.
