A man strangled his wife in Babukhedha Magarayar village, Unnao, late on Sunday night after she opposed his extramarital affair. The incident led to a tense situation as the victim's family members gheraoed the house of the accused's girlfriend. Police intervened, taking the woman into custody and arresting the accused from near the village.
Details of the Incident
Gangadin Lodhi, a resident of Babukhedha Magarayar village under the Kotwali police station area, was involved in an affair with a married woman whose husband resides in Mumbai. The woman was living in the village with her two children. Gangadin's wife, Aarti (40), had no children. Upon learning of her husband's affair, she began opposing it, leading to frequent disputes.
On Sunday night, a heated argument broke out between the couple, during which Gangadin strangled Aarti to death. The following morning, neighbors noticed that the door of the house remained shut and no one came out. Upon entering, they discovered Aarti's body and immediately informed her maternal family, who reside in Jagat Kheda under the Bihar police station area.
Police Action and Arrests
The victim's maternal family arrived in the village and besieged the house of the accused's girlfriend. Circle Officer Madhupnath Mishra, along with Kotwali police, reached the spot, took the woman into custody, and also arrested Gangadin. The deceased's father, Kandhai, accused Gangadin, his sister, and the girlfriend of committing the murder, alleging that the husband was angry because the victim was unable to conceive.
The police have registered a case and are investigating further. The accused and the girlfriend are in custody, and legal proceedings are underway.
