The Uttar Pradesh Vigilance Establishment on Wednesday apprehended Etawah Deputy Chief Medical Officer (Deputy CMO) Dr Srinivas Yadav while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹55,000 from a complainant. The operation was carried out based on a complaint lodged on June 4, 2026.
Complaint Details
The complainant stated that he had submitted an application seeking permission to open an ultrasound centre in his wife's name. However, the file was not being processed, and Dr Yadav was demanding ₹55,000 as illegal gratification to forward and clear the proposal.
Vigilance Action
Following the complaint, vigilance officials conducted a discreet verification, which confirmed the allegations. Subsequently, the Superintendent of Police of the Vigilance Establishment formed a special trap team. After completing legal formalities and planning the operation, the team laid a trap on June 10 inside the CMO office premises in Etawah.
When the complainant handed over the predetermined amount of ₹55,000 to Dr Yadav, the vigilance team immediately intervened and caught him red-handed while accepting the bribe.
Legal Proceedings
Authorities confirmed that a criminal case is being registered against Dr Srinivas Yadav at the Uttar Pradesh Vigilance Establishment Police Station under the Prevention of Corruption Act and other relevant laws. Officials added that further investigation is underway to determine if any other individuals were involved in the alleged bribery and to examine the circumstances surrounding the processing of the ultrasound clinic application.
