UP Resident Pradeep Sharma Arrested in Connection with Filmmaker Rohit Shetty's Bungalow Firing
Mumbai: In a significant development in the investigation of the firing incident at filmmaker Rohit Shetty's Juhu residence, Uttar Pradesh resident Pradeep Sharma (20), also known as Golu, was arrested on Saturday. Police allege that Sharma played a crucial role by introducing the shooter to associates of the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Court Proceedings and Police Custody
On Sunday, Sharma was produced before a holiday court, which remanded him in police custody until April 1. This arrest marks Sharma as the 14th accused to be apprehended in the case related to the shooting at Shetty's bungalow on February 1.
Background and Arrest Details
Sharma, a school dropout, was tracked to Agra under the jurisdiction of the Bah police station. His arrest was the result of a joint operation conducted by the Mumbai Crime Branch and the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force on Saturday. During the investigation, police uncovered that Sharma had a prior criminal record, having been arrested in a firing case in Rajasthan in 2025.
After being released on bail in January, Sharma was allegedly contacted by the Bishnoi gang, who requested him to arrange for a shooter. According to a crime branch official, Sharma admitted to introducing the gang to Deepak, who later traveled to Mumbai and allegedly fired shots at Shetty's residence.
Details of the Firing Incident
On February 1, Deepak reportedly fired multiple rounds outside Shetty's building, with one bullet striking a glass panel. Police stated that five rounds were discharged during the incident. Sharma was arrested on charges of conspiracy in this firing case, although he was not present in Mumbai at the time of the shooting.
Investigation and Manhunt
Following the incident, Sharma went into hiding and changed his contact details to evade capture. However, a team supervised by Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Lakhmi Gautam, including Additional Commissioner Shailesh Balkawade and DCP Raj Tilak Roshan, successfully traced his location through technical surveillance, leading to his arrest.
Police are continuing their efforts to identify who supplied the weapon used in the firing, as this aspect remains under investigation. The case highlights ongoing concerns about gang-related activities and their connections to high-profile incidents in Mumbai.
