Arrest in Mahoba: Pregnant Woman Killed with Sickle
A 27-year-old man was arrested for allegedly murdering his eight-month-pregnant wife with a sickle in Bijrari village, under Panwari police station in Uttar Pradesh's Mahoba district. The incident occurred late Saturday night following a domestic dispute, with the accused reportedly under the influence of alcohol.
Circle Officer (CO) of Kulpahar, Aniruddh Singh, stated that police received a call around 11:30 pm on Saturday from the accused, Hanif, who reported that his wife Manisha Mansoori had died. A police team arrived at the scene and found injury marks on the woman's head and neck, consistent with a sharp-edged weapon.
Child's Testimony Leads to Confession
During initial questioning, Hanif gave contradictory accounts of the incident, raising suspicion. The couple's five-year-old son later told police that his father, appearing intoxicated, struck his mother multiple times with a sickle, causing her death. Based on the child's statement, Hanif allegedly confessed to the crime and was arrested.
A murder case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. The victim's body has been sent for post-mortem examination. Police confirmed that the victim was approximately eight months pregnant and that the accused had a history of alcohol addiction.

CO Singh said the couple had a heated argument earlier in the evening, which escalated into violence. Neighbors reported hearing shouts but did not intervene due to fear. The five-year-old boy was present throughout the ordeal and is now under the care of relatives.
