Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a new initiative urging Gen Z and young Indians to actively connect with border villages as part of the 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India) campaign. The outreach aims to leverage the energy and innovation of youth to transform remote border areas, fostering development and strengthening national unity.

Under the program, youth groups and individuals are encouraged to adopt border villages, engage in community projects, and drive sustainable development. The Prime Minister emphasized that these areas are crucial for national security and holistic growth. According to PM Modi, "The energy of our youth is the driving force for a developed India. By connecting with border villages, they can contribute directly to nation-building."
The initiative targets over 1,000 border villages across states like Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, and others. Volunteers will work on improving infrastructure, education, healthcare, and digital connectivity, aligning with the government's broader vision of a self-reliant India.
Youth Engagement and Impact
PM Modi stressed that this is not just a government scheme but a people's movement. He called upon educational institutions, startups, and civil society to partner in this mission. "Our youth are not just job seekers but job creators. They can bring fresh ideas to solve local challenges in border areas," he added.
The program also includes a digital platform where young Indians can sign up, propose projects, and track their impact. Successful initiatives will be showcased as models for replication. The government plans to allocate resources and provide mentorship to ensure sustainable outcomes.

Border villages often face neglect due to remoteness and security concerns. This initiative aims to reverse that trend by integrating them into the mainstream development narrative.
