The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) has successfully apprehended a wanted accused carrying a substantial reward of Rs 50,000 in a significant crackdown on cattle smuggling. The arrest, executed on Monday, marks a crucial development in a case originally registered in Gonda district, highlighting the STF's cross-state operational capabilities.
Accused Apprehended from Madhya Pradesh Hideout
The arrested individual has been identified as Mohd Bilal, who was captured from Shivpuri district in Madhya Pradesh on March 8. According to official statements, the STF's intelligence network played a pivotal role in tracking down Bilal, who had been evading authorities by hiding in the neighboring state.
"During the intelligence exercise, STF received credible information that Bilal was hiding in Madhya Pradesh to evade arrest. Acting swiftly on the tip-off, an STF team reached the location and arrested him," stated SSP STF, Ghule Chandrabhan, emphasizing the prompt and decisive action taken by the force.
Revelations of a Multi-State Cattle Smuggling Network
During interrogation, Bilal disclosed critical details about his involvement in an extensive cattle smuggling gang that operated across several Indian states. The gang's operations were sophisticated and widespread, involving:
- Procurement of cattle from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, and Bihar
- Smuggling the livestock to Assam and West Bengal
- Coordinated activities to evade law enforcement across state borders
SSP STF Chandrabhan confirmed that Bilal was a key participant in this illicit network, which has been under scrutiny for its disruptive impact on regional livestock markets and legal frameworks.
Criminal History and Legal Proceedings
Records indicate that Bilal has a history of involvement in multiple criminal cases, underscoring the significance of his arrest. Following his capture, he was formally handed over to the Paraspur police station in Gonda district, where the case was originally registered.
