The University of Rajasthan has initiated an investigation into the recruitment of more than 240 assistant professors that took place in 2013, officials confirmed on Wednesday.
Inquiry Committee Formed
Vice-Chancellor Prof Alpana Kateja, addressing the media, announced that an inquiry committee has been constituted to look into the personnel involved in the controversial recruitment process. The committee was formed by the university's chancellor and is headed by Prof BP Saraswat.
Previous Actions Taken
Following the submission of the committee's report, the then vice-chancellor of the University of Rajasthan, who currently holds a different position, was removed from his post. Prof Kateja stated that the university received a letter from the Governor directing them to identify all staff members who were part of the recruitment process and submit a detailed report.
Syndicate Body Meeting
On Wednesday, a special syndicate body meeting was convened at the university. During this meeting, Prof Pawan Sharma, Vice-Chancellor of Jai Narain Vyas University (JNVU), Jodhpur, was appointed as a member of the Vice-Chancellor Search Committee. This move is seen as part of broader administrative changes at the university.
The investigation aims to ensure accountability and transparency in the recruitment process, which has been under scrutiny for alleged irregularities. Further updates are expected as the inquiry progresses.
