A US-based doctor has reportedly lost jewellery worth Rs 1 crore during a visit to Bengaluru for a family wedding. Dr Siruvella Sridevi, who resides in the United States, arrived in the city on April 18 to attend her nephew's wedding ceremony. According to police reports, she brought approximately 725 grams of gold and diamond jewellery valued at Rs 1 crore and was staying at her brother's residence in the Ganganagar area.

Incident Details

The doctor discovered the jewellery missing after returning from the wedding function. She had kept the valuables in a safe at her brother's home. Preliminary investigations suggest that the theft might have been carried out by someone known to the family, as there were no signs of forced entry. The police have registered a case and are examining CCTV footage from the neighborhood.

Police Investigation

Senior police officials stated that they are questioning household staff and relatives to gather clues. The stolen items include gold necklaces, bangles, earrings, and diamond studded pieces. Dr Sridevi had brought the jewellery from the US for the wedding festivities.
