DEHRADUN: A communal violence incident broke out late in Uttarakhand's Bairagiwala village following a dispute over water, police said on Sunday.
The incident occurred on Saturday evening under the Sahaspur police station limits in Dehradun district.
According to officials, a case has been registered against three named accused and 25 unidentified persons in connection with the incident.
Police said tensions escalated after an argument over water supply allegedly turned violent. An angry mob is reported to have pelted stones at the houses of the accused. Later, one of the houses was set on fire during the clash.
The situation in the village has remained tense since the incident. Police personnel have been deployed in the area and are closely monitoring the situation to prevent any further escalation.
